Job title: Internal Sales / Technical Internal Sales
Location: Fluid Power Division, Manchester
Working hours: Monday to Friday plus Saturday morning on a rota. Additional working hours may be required during busy periods
Purpose: Projecting a professional company image through phone interaction, by undertaking a multi-tasking role encompassing customer communications (inbound and outbound), promotion & profitable sale of goods across the product range, providing supply-chain solutions to customer requirements, across the sales cycle, face to face interaction with the customer on Trade Counter.
Over-riding objectives: customer satisfaction /profitable sales
Main duties & responsibilities:
§ The efficient response to incoming phone enquiries and orders
§ Prospect and pursue new business opportunities, using outbound sales techniques
§ Achieve profitable sale of goods across the product range, up-selling/cross-selling as appropriate
§ Build rapport with customers, establishing credibility when providing product and service information
§ Prompt follow-up on customer enquiries not immediately resolved
§ Prepare quotes, bids and tenders in response to customer requirements
§ Maximising margin management opportunities
§ To utilise Hayley bespoke IT system to accurately identify, source and price items; to accurately record enquiries and orders
§ Undertake ad hoc purchasing tasks, and liaising with Group Purchasing/Branch Support
§ Work with management/colleagues to identify improvements to services and products
§ Research and source solutions using internet and Hayley bespoke IT package
§ Resolve customer invoice queries, liaising with Hayley HQ Accounts team as appropriate
§ Sales & purchasing admin support as required
§ To undertake other similar or associated duties as may be assigned to you
§ Help to compile and manage preferred supplier directory.
§ Take care of own safety and that of others.
§ Comply with health and safety procedures and instructions.
§ Not to neglect, misuse, damage anything provided in the interest of health and safety.
§ Assist by reporting to Line Manager any hazard, accident, damage or defect in order that remedial action may be undertaken.
§ Observe Total Quality Management System guidelines
§ Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job
§ Adhere to all company policies and procedures
§ Desire to succeed in sales environment/track record of achievement in similar role
§ Product knowledge of relevant engineering consumables (specialising as appropriate)
§ Willing and able to learn about and support new products
§ Proficient in basic computer applications
§ Professional level verbal and written communication skills, numerate
