Hayley Group is a leading, multi-branch supplier of engineering components and consumables such as Bearings, Power Transmission, Fluid Power and Lubricants. As part of their ongoing expansion they are looking to recruit a Branch Assistant/Trainee Sales/Driver, based from their Falkirk branch. Working hours are 40 per week, Monday to Friday, with 1:4 Saturday mornings as scheduled.

This is a multi-tasking general role encompassing stores, issue and receipt of goods and services, deliveries, internal sales, purchasing & sourcing goods, handling incoming telephone calls & associated paperwork.

Main duties & responsibilities:

  • The efficient issue and receipt of stock and commodities.

    To ensure safe use of all stores lifting and moving aids (including Counter Balance Fork Lift Truck) using Personal Protective Equipment provided where necessary

    To accurately select stock against picking notes, packing for cost-efficient despatch

    To record day to day data and information accurately onto stores computer system.

    To provide information on stock availability (perpetual and random inventory)

    To load delivery vehicle safely & within recommended limits, observe safe driving practices (as outlined in the Company Driver’s Handbook) and make timely deliveries to customer sites

    To assist with sales enquiries and any customer queries on a first line basis reporting irregularities to the Manager as appropriate, and to encourage good customer relations. 

    To source goods & products from approved suppliers, as authorised within stock limits, negotiating price & delivery to achieve profitable sales

    To actively promote the sale of Hayley’s products and services to the customer by phone/fax/email and in person.

    To develop knowledge, skills and business “savvy” to progress career within the organisation

    To actively participate in the response to emergency situations whenever they arise.

    To undertake other similar or associated duties as may be assigned to you.

You will ideally need to be able to demonstrate an appreciation of bearings, seals, power transmission or similar engineering consumables and show good communication skills.  It would be advantageous to have some previous experience of working in a similar environment.
